Welcome to ELEV8!

What inspired you to investigate online learning for you or your child? Perhaps someone directed you to our site, or you were searching for options and landed here. We cannot guess your story, but we can welcome you and offer a few things to think about as you browse…

First of all, please note that we have programs for adults and a wide variety of offerings for K-12 learners housed on two different websites.

Considerations for Online and Blended Learning

Most people are familiar with the expectations, structures, and timing of conventional schooling, but it can take some time and imagination to arrive at the alternative that will work best. The information below will support your thinking, and if you would like to speak with someone to consider the possibilities, please reach out via phone or email.

Some of the strengths of in-person learning may only be noticed in their absence. We recommend that you spend some time with these questions, whether they are to be interpreted for you as the individual learner, or to the family unit who will be supporting a younger learner. For a more formal view of expectations in the secondary and adult programs, this page.

· What purpose and joys does learning hold for you, within and beyond what may be required by circumstances?

· As a learner, what structures do you need to manage time, attention, and motivation?

· When there is no structure to “enforce” learning, what beliefs and habits support or interfere with your progress?

· What outside reminders, encouragement, or more directed accompaniment facilitate your success?

· What social needs do you hold in learning and how will these be met?

This helps to develop a picture for what we call “intrinsic motivation” in education. This term means that the most powerful learning happens through a person’s own motivation to explore and grow. What will motivate you to your highest current potential as well as your future goals?

Learners of all ages need support. Elev8 teachers and staff are always happy to answer questions and collaborate to come up with plans that will work for you and your family and to make adjustments along the way. When there are identified learning needs, our Inclusion Support teachers provide additional expertise for modified Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Elev8/DESK and HomeLink’s teachers and staff look forward to accompanying the journey ahead!
